KMES Highlights

Kings Mountain Elementary School is a small elementary school in the Cabrillo Unified School District (CUSD). The school serves approximately 70 students, kindergarten through fifth grade, in three multi-age classrooms (K/1, 2/3, and 4/5).

The school's small size and multi-age classrooms provide a flexible and nurturing educational environment for its students. Kings Mountain School was awarded a Distinguished School Award from the State of California in 2008 and 2014. The school continues to be committed to academic excellence and good citizenship.

Curriculum Highlights

  • Bridges Math

  • School-wide Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) programs: Second Step, Changing Perspectives, Responsive Classroom, and Second Step's Bullying Prevention

  • Dedicated science teacher offering a specialized, hands-on curriculum twice a week for all grades

  • Arts Enrichment including  but not limited to culinary arts,  music arts, and fine arts, weekly, all grades

  • Art In Action units, taught by trained parent volunteers weekly, with art exhibits to display student work, for all grades

  • Educational field trips

  • Dedicated, district-appointed Physical Education instructor for grades 4/5

  • Non-competitive, skills-based Physical Education program for K/1/2/3

  • One to one chromebooks for all students
